Its a long way back to wordpress…

I used to call this my personal blog, and there was a phase where I moved onto another sphere where the technical blog took over from me and my personal voice failed to come out.. It was quite a long way, and suddenly as I look onto my dashboard, the last post is ‘I don’t want to say’ yrs/months old. Good to be back, hoping to get hold of some time, once in a while.

Quite a lot had been happening, completing a year as a professional: new commitments, new responsibilities, a complete change of ‘where I belong’ and an even stronger longing to return to my old address.  Driving the way to work => Riding the way to work,  Early sleeping hours => ‘God knows when’ sleeping hours(still, a sound sleep as ever before), Once in a while holiday in college=> holiday at manager’s approval,  Bunking college => Sit at office  even if it is late, Friday eat outs => so called ‘Team Lunch’, days when I was an advanced music student => a point if life where I teach music, Xperia => Blackberry…… the list is huge guys. But ‘m still the same 🙂 It was a fun-pain filled ride, all these times and years…quite a lot to cheer and ultimately one person to look on at every point – my Lord.

Well, i’ve just put a reminder just now on my phone, which is recurring every week. Let’s see if he is smart enough to make me write a post once in a while.

The road to Subex….!!

A story worth pages…this was quite something that screwed me like anything. The road was quite long, about 500k’s, and a part of it can only be covered here.

To define the space and place, it’s Bangalore – the tech capital of India. SUBEX, a sofware specific company, is a leader in the telecom product industry. And what connects us is…ryt now, I’ve a job offer from Subex.

well one fine day evening I reached the tech capital of India…dint see much trouble in finding my way and making things happen. Well, I guess, my travel instincts and routines helped me! I took the bus frm Majestic bus station to my cousin’s place! I was supposed to stay wth him that day. I reached his place which was near the renowned SAP Labs; and had my night there, as always, busy wth watching football and surfing. My cousin, he’s working with IBM Bangalore was busy wth offline work! 😀

The next day, I reached the Subex office in Devarabasanahalli by about 9am, as always, late (I was supposed to be there by 8:30am)! I was greeted by the receptionist and was asked to wait. The lobby had an enourmous plasma television, I sat there and munched its view. After about 10mins, the person I was supposed to meet caught up with me, the placement and HR officer at Subex.

Well, ther’re no characters involved in this life story…just me and Subex! Else I would have elaborated. There’s a lot of them, my Placements HR at Subex and a lot. But not for now!

I was called in for the first round of interviews at about 10am. The interviewer was such a nice guy and I still cherish the time I spent with him. And we parted as friends, when I left the room. He started slowly and cooly and in a very short while, I could smell smoke from my head! He started with things that made me think and went into things that made me a computer scientist!! And he made me answer them, and made me give such a strenous exercise for my brains. And I guess there’s very few things in CS engg and programming skills that he din’t touch! And the interview lasted for 1 and a 1/2 hour….can u imagine that much time speaking just about engg science? And I enjoyed it like heaven.

So, from the first round or from the following….i would say….if u want to join Subex, 3 things to be ensured.
(1) be thorough with ur basics
(2) have precise logic, ie. a crystal clear mind…no hung feelings once you are there.
(3) your attitude…. I swear, this is the deciding factor.
And above all these, faith in God…even if others say it’s impossible, well, I had a God who made it possible!

After sometime, I was made known that i’ve cleared round one and the second round will follow soon after. I said ‘okay, cool’!

Well, the second round, it was a real deal…i almost spat out all what I leaned in my seventh, sixth and fifth semesters. Each and every subject in all these three semesters were covered. If u consider one among those subjects, parallel processing in computer science, I was made to define what it was, then through the minutest of details until what ‘pp’ does in our real industry. I would say, page 1 to the very last of any txtbook tat a geek can imagine, was covered. This was the same for all those subjects and you can imagine how thrilled I was in that room. Still, ‘m wondering how that interviewer could remember all these things, even years after his studying them!

Well, after sometime, I came to know that the interviewer was impressed and I should probably have lunch from the Subex canteen….why, because I was in for the next round. The canteen, just like Subex, was male-dominated and I cant keep off from saying that it was nice food there too.

The third round was taken by one of the VP’s at Subex and she was a really courteous lady. And it was her turn to take me through a third and fourth semester ride. Well, all those data structures and what all… I was reminded of even those exam times during which I was mostly tripping around or teaching others. Then, there was a bit of ‘hr-testing’ (this word should be added to the software industry jargons, because most premier companies depend on hr skills to choose a person for the job. That is imp, but even then, the focus should be tech).

Rest of the story…soon..

All in a day’s work…

It was 9th of July, 2010 and all things went on well and fine as always. The day was slowly passing by with me being late for class(as usual) to get a stare from the Principal, and grabbing the attendance from the teacher. All these things are quite too normal in my life. Okay, that will be my next post i hope- the day that makes me!! And as the story teller says, it was a quiet and fine evening when things suddenly changed.. !!!

Characters in the play: Meril(Chairman of the FOCES cell of my college) and Krishnamohan, the Secretary of the same. And third can’t be someone else but me! After a tiring day in college and plans for the next, we three decided to travel back home(I was dead early, i couldn’t even believe i was leaving by then). We got into a bus that should take us home. It was then that Meril told he was thirsty, I seconded. i agreed to pay the cash, and asked them to come out and have a coke. We kept our bags and stuff( I mean they, I don’t carry a childish bag!!) in our seat itself and went on to have our drink.

We were in the middle of drinking when i just noticed Meril sprinting out into the open where the bus was parked. I simply turned back to look out and I saw the bus moving. I joined Meril and krish(as he prefers to call himself) was still at the shop with his coke… Only krish was left and he was not sure if i had paid the cash. He din’t even have half the money, with him, that we owed to pay. He din’t know what to do and at last, after much thought, he claims, he too jumped into the us and sat next to us. It was then that krish asked us ‘ hey, u payed them? ‘. I was shocked, I’ve not!! I handed the money to krish and asked him to pay the bearer. He went to pay, and he was happy to find out that those shopkeeper guys were searching for ‘three guys who ran away without paying’ !! Obviously, they had company from the society!! Krish paid them and joined us back, by then the bus had moved out of the bay.

As he came running to catch the bus, we, myself and Meril, could not hold back our laughter. We burst out laughing and it was then that we just thought. In case the bus left the instant me and I entered, and krish was still there at the shop!! We feel like we’ll be having krish serving the customers and doing the jobs there, and the next time we get there, he’ll be serving us coke!! KRISHNAMOHAN almost got placed in a well reputed firm!!

they call it a ‘post’… i’d rather call it nonsense!!

.

A single question loomed over me for quite a long while, asked right through my school days , then took a slight lull i think and was back to center-stage all along my college days ” Why do you not take ‘Posts’? “… I’ve given some straight answers to quite a few of those- ” I am not Interested “, that defines it and summarizes all i mean to say!

.

Wherever i had been, this thing used to dampen my spirits and freedom to think and work independently. I have always maintained that Richie, ‘as a machine’ gives the best output when left to itself rather than crowning it with the earthly crowns of glory. In fact, i love to be a manager rather than an administrator, who is more concerned about managing my his own self rather than others.(Had all the guys did this, we may not require those Harvard and IIM – MBA guys). Even still, people are better of thinking their own ways. So, why be part of the crowd !!

.

And i maintain that this is just a personal opinion. The guys(read as your name) of this era are more comfortable with management and leadership and don’t bother to have those good old service mentality we ought to have learned from our predecessors. They wanna be HR managers, day one into their job and prefer not to work for that. And see guys, this is not philosophy, just the bare truth… dig deep into yourself to find out!!

.

This is just a question about my principles and credentials.. and this can vary!! Always I’ve maintained and can’t dream of changing those values which defines me!! 😉 And the set of principles i stick to is what makes me who I am, without which I’d rather be dust!!

(Never have I let that differ, except once when I had to keep this off for one of my ‘dear friend’ when it came to a matter in my college life.. and that guy Kiran.. I’m sorry Kiran if you’re reading this….had the better of that with the credit to be the only guy who has made me walk off from my set will!!) And the rest of you.. that was just that one time.. Can’t happen once more.. no one can make it happen again!!

wavin’ flag…

Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, its around us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun

Lets rejoice in the beautiful game.

And together at the end of the day.

WE ALL SAY

When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom
Just like a wavin’ flag

And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes

When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom
Just like a wavin’ flag

And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes

Wooooooooo Ohohohoooooooo ! OOOoooooh Wooooooooo

WE ALL SAY ! ………………

Hope that this World Cup would be the best ever in sporting!

this time, i’ve quite a lot!

.

Hey,

.

Staring out of my windows, that too is a rare thing, i just checked my blog-space and it kept me wondering why i could not find a post there since about a month. The reasons are wide and varied, maybe i was too tied up with something or the other or i should have totally blinded my eyes to it. WATEVER!!

.

As ‘m back once again, i was thinking of what to write! This time quite a lot. The first n foremost thing that struck my mind was the Academic year that had passed by with much storm and nonsense. I am really out of words that happened in relation to my college life(the so called academic sphere). Much of it was child’s play for me… nothing more or less.
I will be back with lot of those moments some time soon and i will have to face quite a few grumpy faces( i don’t care babes!!… do what you please). So i just keep the storm to rattle the future.
And this thing that comes next in the row, was just the most amazing part. The outings that I’ve had….. countless to say. Still remember those days in the past month, my “so called” friends where busy doing there revisions, when i was touring parts of kerala back n forth without even a module of my syllabus to my credit. And quite a few other occasions to be called the “driver” of the family which most agree is because of my “driving skills” rather than holding the wheel for any family trip. That was just the best and momentous days of my life with the best that i have on this earth- My Family. Again, there are too many number of wonderful trips n places to speak of, so again, this goes back into the rack.
“Why do you not take up any post?”… This question had been running the shows for quite too long and my answer still remains the same as of old. I Won’t …. tat’s it. I just hope to answer this question in the future with a variety audience to question.
My native place n my most beloved town- Tiruvalla. wahh! kyah topic chunke rekha he yaar…awesome. Lekhin abhi nahi, this place deserves much more than just a few ounces of my precious time. So much have it given to me n helped me in being what i am. Tiruvalla n Mepral, I Salute you…..

.

This is enough and more for the moment right…. Let me get back to my schedules and get goin!

answer my qn … ??? willya..??

.

Somethings in life never catch you straight n you often get to know them unawares. This time, ’twas courtesy: my younger brother. He was the one to come up with this simple question that amused me like never since a long time. I was just busy with my exam portions along with my friend, digging out some coal from the DSP mines. (Nevertheless, after the exam we understood that it was merely for interest sake and could mean nothing more since cusat had worse plans for us.) HE came next to me n asked.. ‘Which of the three is the lesser evil- the first year, second or third of b.tech?? ‘ ….

.

I smiled for the moment n let go of him.But thinking of what he asked- which one was it that ruined the spirits?? BUt when i thought of it, i came to realize that each had something on its own dampen the fun. And as for me, ’twas as always before, the same way i faced Chemistry papers in my own MTRS despite the teachers running after me trying to change my attitude- but can it ever?? eh?

.

Talking of days gone by, i remember how ever teasing Chemistry ruined the first year days… I had left school hoping that such papers will never trouble me even in my dreams. But b.tech had different plans. This horrible subject haunted for an entire year. I was jus praying for the University exam to pass by for CS 103. Then came the fun n spoil of S3 n S4- the former with PPL(Principles of prgming languages as they call it… a necessary evil for all the CS guys) and the latter with DAC(Data Communication). I learnt the Principles of Patience in Learning … DAC paper kept me thinking why the hell we were having these nonsense EC papers in our syllabus, but this paper was one with a difference. Now i just feel like it was good that we learnt it in S4. the 5th Sem had deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep trouble in store- DBMS(Database Management). I remember that it was the worst paper i ever learnt in life next to Chemistry. Still remember those missed days of class. My attendance percentage in this subject could be almost #$ percent. Not for this subject, ’twas the same for other subjects too. The turn of Sem 6,i am just being so frank … that i really loved almost all the papers here. Except on quite a few occasions when i felt CSE(Control Systems) was a headache.

.

Still the one question remains … unanswered … But doubtlessly, the 1st year was the most enjoyable one… Can’t think of better moments than those ….
